STATEMENT ON CROWN AGENTS
INTEGRITY ACTION STATEMENT ON CROWN AGENTS LIMITED GROUP
Integrity Action remains operational and independent.
1 August 2024 — The news that Crown Agents Limited is entering liquidation is sad and concerning for its partners, employees, and the development sector more broadly. As a prior group member, we felt this first-hand, and we extend our thoughts to those who are affected, whether as employees or as those due to benefit from the group's work. The 2 Crown Agents representatives resigned from our Board on 23 July 2024 and we ceased being a member of the Crown Agent Group on 26 July 2024 (all of which happened prior to the liquidation). Integrity Action partners, funders, peers, and stakeholders can rest assured that we are unaffected by this development and that our operations will continue as usual.
Our continuing independence
Even prior to our exit from the Crown Agent Group, as an independent subsidiary of Crown Agents Limited and as a charity, Integrity Action maintained a separate financial and governance structure that protected us from the situation the Group faces. We have always been a registered non-governmental organisation in our own right, company registration number 4884328 (England and Wales), charity registration number 1120927, and our latest financial accounts are available here.
Commitment to our work
We understand that today's news will concern many and we want to reassure all our valued partners and stakeholders that our capacity and commitment to delivering citizen-centred accountability are unmoved. All programmes, collaborations, and commitments will proceed as planned and will maintain the high standards you expect from us. Our team is fully equipped and prepared to meet all obligations and even scale up our delivery.
Continued focus on our mission and vision
We remain focused on our Integrity Action mission and vision “for a just and equitable world, where citizens are empowered, and integrity is central to vibrant societies” and will continue as planned to deliver our strategic objectives with exciting developments in the pipeline.
Whilst what has happened within the Crown Agents Limited group is very disappointing, we believe that our initial decision to merge was at that time the most appropriate one as we have seen the potential opportunities that joint action with a larger organization may provide for a small charity like ours. As such we remain keen to explore future options for beneficial mergers to deliver impact at scale.
